Designed for Moms-to-be! Benefits of regular treatments include alleviating depression, anxiety, leg and back pain.
This massage treatment is different from regular treatments mainly because the woman will be lying on her side for most of the session. I like to put a pillow between her knees as it keeps her pelvis neutral and prevents her spine from rotating. Maintaining good alignment can relieve some of the stress from the tissues in your back and may potentially reduce pain caused by the extra weight you are carrying in your front. I also offer a pillow to cuddle. This too can be comforting.
I can work as lightly or as deeply as my client wants as she lies in this position. If she can lie on her back for the last ten minutes of the treatment, I can work around her neck and head as well as her stomach, if she is happy for me to massage this area.
Massage therapy relaxes the pregnant client. It can increase circulation, improve sleep, reduce pain and boost mood.
Prenatal massage is generally considered safe, but if your pregnancy is high risk or if you have a condition like preeclampsia or high blood pressure, it’s best to get approval from your doctor before you come for the treatment.
